Let’s start with what a battery actually does. Your solar panels make the most power in the middle of the day, usually when you’re at work and not using much of it. A battery saves that extra energy so you can use it later, like at night, during the most expensive hours of the day, or when the power goes out.
And here’s the part a lot of people don’t find out until their first outage. Solar panels on their own usually shut off when the grid goes down. That’s a safety thing, so your system doesn’t send power onto the lines while crews are out fixing them. If you want your lights, fridge, or WiFi to keep running during an outage, a battery is what makes that possible.
So when is a battery worth it? It’s probably a good fit if:
✅ Your power goes out often
✅ Someone in your home relies on medical equipment
✅ Your utility charges more during evening peak hours
✅ Your utility pays you very little for the extra power you send back
✅ You want more control over your own energy
And when might you skip it? You might not need one right now if:
➖ Your power rarely goes out
➖ Your utility gives you full credit for the extra power you send back
➖ Your budget is tight and saving money is your main goal
The good news is that many systems can add a battery later. If you’re on the fence, ask whether your setup is battery ready so you have the option down the road.
We’ll never tell you that you need something you don’t. If you’re not sure which side you’re on, send us your electric bill and tell us how often your power goes out.
We’ll give you a straight answer, even if that answer is “you don’t need one.” ☀️
This is what our weeks look like ☀️🙌🏻
We’ve done this a few times. You’re in good hands 🙌🏻
