Step 3: Permission to Operate—Your Official Solar Launch! π
At Infinity Solar USA, we’re on a mission to make your transition to solar as seamless as possible. After you’ve approved your solar proposal and CAD, we’re almost at the finish line—but there’s one final step before you can start basking in the glory of your solar-powered home: getting permission to operate (PTO).
So, what exactly does that mean, and why is it such a big deal? Let’s dive in!
1. What is Permission to Operate (PTO)? π
In simple terms, Permission to Operate is the official approval from your utility company that says, “Yep, you’re all set to go solar!” After we finish the installation and everything’s looking good on our end, we submit the necessary paperwork to your utility for review.
ο»Ώ
This step ensures that your solar system meets all the safety and regulatory standards, and that it’s ready to connect to the grid without any hiccups. Think of it as your solar system’s license to officially join the grid party.
2. What Happens During PTO? π§
Once the installation is complete, we’ll perform a final inspection to make sure everything is running smoothly and up to code. After that, we send the info to your utility company, and they come out to inspect your system (sometimes, they may even do this remotely).
ο»Ώ
Once they give their stamp of approval, we receive your Permission to Operate, and you’re good to start generating power!
3. Why PTO is a Big Deal π
PTO is more than just a formality—it’s the green light you’ve been waiting for. It officially means that:
- Your solar system is connected to the grid.
- You can start producing your own clean, renewable energy.
- If you have net metering or other energy credits, you can start earning them!
This is the moment you’ve been working toward—the moment when your solar system starts paying you back. And trust us, it’s totally worth the wait.
4. How Long Does PTO Take? β³
While it may vary depending on your utility company, getting PTO typically takes a few weeks after installation. But don’t worry—we’ll be here to keep you updated throughout the process. After all, we’re on this solar journey together!
Bottom Line?
Permission to Operate is the final step before you can start enjoying the full benefits of your solar system. Once you’ve got PTO, it’s smooth sailing from there—your system is officially up and running, and you’re ready to start saving money and reducing your carbon footprint.
